Queensland Disc Golf Inc. (QDG) is the peak body for disc golf in Queensland and works to grow the sport by supporting local clubs, developing new courses, delivering state-wide competitions, and creating opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to get involved.
Funds raised through the People First Community Lottery will help Improve Facilities to Support Women and Girls in Disc Golf
Queensland Disc Golf Inc. (QDG) is raising funds to help cover the cost of providing quality portable bathroom facilities at sanctioned events that form part of the 2027 Queensland Disc Golf Tour.
Disc golf tournaments are often held in public parks and open spaces, and while these locations provide excellent opportunities for our sport, many have limited or inadequate bathroom facilities. In some cases, participants are required to carefully plan bathroom breaks around competition or walk considerable distances away from the course to access suitable facilities.
QDG recognises that access to clean, safe and conveniently located bathrooms can be an important consideration for participants, particularly women and girls. A lack of appropriate facilities should never be an unnecessary barrier to someone feeling comfortable participating in community sport.
As the peak body for disc golf in Queensland, we are continually looking for practical ways to encourage, support and increase female participation in our sport. Providing portable bathrooms at Queensland Disc Golf Tour events is a simple but tangible measure that can make our tournaments more welcoming, accessible and inclusive.
Funds raised through this initiative will assist QDG in subsidising the hire and delivery of portable bathroom facilities for sanctioned events across the 2027 Queensland Disc Golf Tour. This will also support our affiliated clubs, many of which are volunteer-run community organisations with limited resources and event budgets.
Our goal is to provide participants with the assurance that when they attend a QDG Tour event, appropriate bathroom facilities will be available, regardless of the existing infrastructure at the tournament venue.
By investing in something as fundamental as access to quality facilities, QDG hopes to remove one more barrier to participation and demonstrate that growing women’s and girls’ involvement in disc golf is about more than simply encouraging them to play — it is also about creating an environment that genuinely supports them when they do.
