To continue our important work supporting firefighters, their families, and members of the wider community, the Australian Professional Firefighters Foundation provides assistance across a range of programs and initiatives.
Our support includes the Women's and Children's Hospital Newland Ward (Burns Unit), as well as individuals and families affected by burns, road trauma, and fire-related incidents.
We visit the Newland Ward on a monthly basis, providing toys and gifts to children receiving treatment. We also contribute towards the purchase of medical equipment and furnishings to help improve the ward environment for patients and their families.
As part of our commitment to injury prevention and community education, we provide financial support to the MFS Road Awareness Program, which delivers vital road trauma prevention messages throughout the community.
Recognising the importance of mental health and wellbeing, we facilitate weekly coffee clubs for both current and retired firefighters. These gatherings provide an opportunity for social connection, peer support, and ongoing engagement within the firefighting community.
We also provide direct assistance to firefighters and their families during times of hardship. This support is tailored to the individual circumstances and needs of each person or family requiring assistance.
In addition, through Fire Cause Investigation referrals, we provide emergency Visa gift cards to eligible victims of fire to assist with immediate necessities such as emergency accommodation, clothing, food, and other essential items following a fire event.
